My carefree support of the bees is working. I spent 5 euros for a full wild flower 7 square garden. And 50 euros for a water ton. I use containments (kitchen) and even buckets (shower) for cold water before warm to maximize efficiency to fill the supply. Join me. So many bees now!

  1. Well done! Really looking forward to doing the same once we have a home with a garden.

We would love to buy a huge plot of land just to let nature do its thing but unfortunately we do not have that kind of money.

    But every small bit helps!

  2. I count 1 bumblebee in your entire picture…

But good on you. I´m hoping my new garden will attract more and more bees and and bugs every year as I keep upgrading it.

Bit not flies or mosquitos. Fuck mosquitos

  3. This was part of my plan when I still lived at my old apartment. There was a plot of neglected land behind our garage boxes and I wanted to replace the ugly thorny weeds with wild flowers.

  4. OK hold up I was planning to build a puddle in the garden, but hadn’t thought of just a water ton. Smart.

  5. I made a ‘wild patch’ at the end of my garden, right now the creeping buttercups are covering everything, but the wild flowers will get there.

  6. I worked at a shitty bakery chain last year that made my life miserable but at least I got a ton of those seeds because the town that the store was in handed them out for free and we had a big box in our store, so I took heaps and heaps of them that even this year’s garden is full of flowers from those seeds

  7. Even only a small patch does wonders for biodiversity in your garden. [Imgur](https://imgur.com/RWMrjDk)

Some lupines and mustard plant for vertical colour. Some nice papavers for that summer feeling. A forgotten oldie the dianthus barbatus AKA duizendschoon.
Also don’t be afraid to put some bulbs in there. Lilies hold out well in our winter and you smell them from 10m away (they’re like pizza for snails though). Dahlias ofc another good one. Or to get early colour in the flower patch there are the faithfull crocus and daffodils.
If you have a narrow piece of dirt that’s in the sun and doesn’t get too much strong wind, sun flowers are a big winner. There are the 3-4m monsters but there are many variaties that stay below 1m and they’re also in all the shades of yellow, orange and red. They’ll grow more easily and the birds will love to come eat the seeds when they’re done flowering just like any other sun flower.

Another easy thing to place in your garden to make bees jizz their pants are raspberries. You put them on [vertical ranks +-1.5m high](https://imgur.com/f6eBEZ8) so they don’t take much space. Or just some [against a wall](https://imgur.com/WyhiLu9).
First year a new branch from the ground you’ll just lead up. 2nd and 3rd year each branch will throw raspberries at you. 4th year the branch will wither so you can cut it off. By that time the roots will have grown new branches and spread out over the rest of the rank to give new branches.

  8. My garden is always buzzing with bees in the spring and summer.

They love the lavender and cytise!

  9. I’m doing my best to create a biodiverse garden for all life. I’ve got flower beds, high grass and even made big hotels and houses for the solitary bees. So I’ve already joined you.
