The town of Greece has named two attorneys that will lead the internal investigation into Police Chief Michael Wood.
Wood was placed on administrative leave on May 22.
Laurie Vahey of Vahey Law Offices and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard A. Resnick will now lead the investigation after the town says it received a New York State Police report on allegations about the behavior of Naser Zenelovic, who was hired by Wood as deputy chief in February 2022.
The town previously announced that one of the department’s deputy chiefs, Ryan Parina, will serve as acting chief until further notice.
Officials say the investigation is expected to take several months.
Wood joined the GPD in 2022 after 25 years with the Rochester Police Department and previously served as deputy commissioner of the state’s Division of Criminal Justice Services Office of Public Safety.
