Government teams will identify and implement priority services and operations under the new AI framework
Following directives from UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his announcement of a new government system aiming to convert 50 percent of government sectors, services and operations to Agentic AI models within two years, the UAE Government convened a specialized workshop on developing and implementing Agentic AI across government work. The event, organized by the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs in Dubai, brought together more than 300 participants from 50 federal entities to launch implementation tracks for the new system, activate streams for government services, operations and institutional support, map services, projects and operations across federal bodies in preparation for Agentic AI adoption, and set up a 90-day monitoring period for rollout.
Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Agentic AI Project Executive Committee, said the workshop follows directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to accelerate Agentic AI adoption across government functions to enhance performance, raise service quality and support the UAE’s ambition to build a more agile, future-ready government. Al Gergawi said the UAE is reinforcing its global leadership by developing flexible work models that harness Agentic AI capabilities, which he described as an advanced stage in the evolution of government work that supports employees, speeds task completion, boosts productivity and advances data-driven decision-making to improve government efficiency and outcomes. He added that the workshop aims to equip government talent with skills to leverage Agentic AI and deploy modern tools within their work environments in line with the UAE’s vision to lead in best practices and innovative government models.
Operational tracks and priorities
Maryam bint Ahmed Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary General of the Cabinet and Head of the Operations and Institutional Support Track, said the government operations track is focused on removing barriers and transforming how the government operates. Work began with mapping operations across federal ministries and entities, identifying priority operations for conversion to Agentic AI, and cataloguing existing and in-development applications to produce a comprehensive federal implementation plan. She said track sessions involved more than 140 officials and specialists and identified 10 key areas: human resources, procurement and contracts, financial and administrative affairs, legislative affairs, internal audit, digital transformation and technical support, institutional communication and media, facilities management and maintenance, and shared operational processes across ministries and federal entities.
Services track and selection criteria
Mohamed Rashid bin Taliah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Government Knowledge Exchange and Head of the Services Track, presented the next-phase government work model to enable entities to identify and select priority services and operations for Agentic AI implementation, aiming to maximize impact on individuals and businesses while improving service quality and efficiency. He affirmed that government teams have the competencies, expertise and innovative spirit required to deploy Agentic AI, noting the UAE’s track record of turning ambition into achievement and viewing challenges as motivation to sustain leadership and develop exemplary government models. Workshop discussions covered selection criteria for priority operations, including volume and frequency, annual transaction numbers, number and nature of beneficiaries, and readiness factors such as clarity and documentation of procedures, availability of up-to-date data, degree of automation and expected impact on service quality, cost efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Under the workshop framework, each government entity must select a specific service or operation for Agentic AI implementation to be launched within 90 days across three phases: an exploration phase to select the service or operation, a design phase to develop the target journey, and an implementation planning phase to define application requirements and initial execution plans. Implementation will be monitored regularly with government work teams over the three-month period to ensure support, meet targets and launch the selected services and operations within the set timeframe.
