75 years after the end of WWII, Italy is still cleaning up unexploded bombs

  1. Tldr, is it because a lot of bombs were dropped and it’s a lot of work, or Italy just couldn’t be bothered in the years after?

  2. Workers found one in a field outside my street a few years ago.
We all had to evacuate as the Army dealt with it. They didn’t bother to defuse it – just blew it up. Not worth risking peoples lives to save a field from having a hole in it.

  3. On a Romanian metal detecting FB group there was a guy who showed photos of the 3 tons of unexploded WWII ammo he found in a forest (he called the authorities to take them over).

I guess it’s a dangerous hobby, but so is paragliding and skiing off-piste.
