East Buchanan dominated on Tuesday night against Lisbon. This was a big game for the
Buccaneers, as Lisbon came into the game with a record of 9-3, making it comparable to East Buchanan’s 8-3 record.
The field was set up a little differently, which changed things up for the Buccaneers. Instead of a regular high school field, Lisbon plays at its local city park. Right fielder Nolan Payton was positioned inside another infield that overlapped with the outfield.
The first inning started with strong competition, with East Buchanan leading by just one run at 3-2.
Action picked up when East Buchanan found some green while batting in the third and fourth innings. With the fence being so far out, the opposing team knew there wasn’t much chance for an out-of-the-park home run. Much to their surprise, Brady Hogan launched a home run over the fence to get some excitement going on the Buccaneers’ side.
By the end of the fourth inning, East Buchanan held a 7-2 lead.
Brady VanScoyoc threw a total of 62 pitches on the night, allowing just one walk while striking out four batters. He pitched the first four innings before Tristian Cornell took over. Cornell finished with a pitch count of 40, allowing no walks and striking out five batters.
East Buchanan totaled 102 pitches on the night. Comparatively, Lisbon totaled 174. The
Buccaneers hit well throughout the game, putting pressure on Lisbon’s pitchers.
East Buchanan closed out the game with a 14-2 victory.
