Finland is ready to fight Russia if attacked – defence chief

  1. “Finland has prepared for decades for a Russian attack and would put up stiff resistance should one occur, its armed forces chief said.”

Context: this statement would have been a political disaster just some years ago. We never, ever, mentioned our opponent by name. It was always called with pseudonyms, such as “yellow”.

The shift in attitude and boldness has been very fast, and extremely stern.

  2. It’s comical how the one person in the world most hell-bent on not seeing NATO expand has single-handedly pushed several countries closer to NATO and proved the importance of the alliance. Well done.

  3. Before the pandemic, I had the very great pleasure of seeing a little bit of Finland. I *believe* that there are only a few large roads leading from the border into Finland: the 6, 13, 62 and E18. I am not sure if there are many train tracks.

Given the total inability of Russia to handle off road logistics, I am sure that our Finnish friends could make it *very* hard for Russia to push into Finland without their supply chains totally breaking down.
