Hi, for some context – I moved from a big city to Switzerland recently.
I live near the hills and in this summer season I find spiders outside my windows and I’m a little scared of opening them.
So my question is:
1. What is this spider? (Should I get rid of it?)
2. If I should get rid of these, how do I do it?
Google has this really cool search thingy, in the Google search bar on your phone, you tap the camera icon and take a picture of what you want information on, and Google will retrieve several possible matches and you can read about it and learn new things.
It’s a garden cross spider.
Get rid of it if you want more mosquitoes and wasps in your house.
That’s Fatty McSpider, it fests on mosquitos in exchange of your hospitality.
There’s no killing spiders in Switzerland.

Spiders are always a welcome roomate
Please please don’t just kill it. These creatures clean your apartment of unwanted bugs and flies.
But if you absolutely don’t want the spider in your rooms (I know, some people really don’t like spiders) you can catch it, e.g. put a glass over it and push a piece of paper between the glass and the wall so the spider cant crawl out. Then you can release it on the balcony.
All spiders should be killed on sight, no matter their location, breed or benefit to the earth. I just thank god they can’t fly.
after reading these comments im starting to feel bad.
i was sitting in my balkon when one decided to slowly descend right next to me. since i played airsoft at the time i regret to inform that spider kinda exploded and i never really used my balkon again. i am not a big fan of spiders and all windows are lined with mosquito nets to avoid meeting them inside
