The name of the priest who was meant to occupy it. For instance the first one (from left) says “ΙΕΡΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΟΣ ΚΑΙ ΦΕΡΕΦΑΤΤΗΣ” = PRIEST OF DEMETER AND PHERREPHATTE (Persephone)
All are variants of “Priest of (various deities and heroes)”, surprisingly easy to read given their age
Thank you. That makes a lot of sense. Priests held a lot of power back then. Now in the USA some sports venues will have the name of a wealthy donor/business person on a seat.
