The Vermont Immigration Legal Defense Fund surpassed its $1 million fundraising goal to support legal defense aid. The grassroots fundraiser began in May 2025 and collected donations from all 14 counties in Vermont and 39 states.On Tuesday, the fund announced grants to several community partners. The money will help provide legal services and meet the needs of immigrant communities.The final grant of over $100,000 will go to the Vermont Asylum Assistance Project to support an upcoming partnership between five nonprofit immigration legal service providers, which VAAP is a part of.The grant helps to strengthen and sustain long-term legal defense services in Vermont by supporting long-term planning, along with recruiting and mentoring immigration lawyers.
