Josh Greenbaum, the director of the Playing POTUS documentary, took a swipe at President Donald Trump.
On June 9, the Playing POTUS documentary was screened at the Tribeca Festival. At the festival, the documentary explored the behind-the-scenes history of the Saturday Night Live comedians, including comic Dana Carvey, as they parodied several political leaders over the years. About a day before, President Donald Trump, 79, arrived at Madison Square Garden to watch the New York Knicks take on the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
The Knicks lost to the Spurs 115-111, ending their historic 13-game playoff winning streak. This came after Keke Palmer dished about her love life with Whoopi Goldberg in a candid conversation during the Tribeca Festival’s Storytellers series.

Ahead of the screening at Village East by Angelika, Greenbaum said, “Thank you so much for coming out and check out this film. It means the world to be here, at Tribeca, in New York, the state that I’m from.
He jabbed, “And the city, despite the president coming in and ruining our mojo last night. We still have a 2-1 lead.”
“I want to remind us and stay positive. Thanks and bye. Stay positive,” Greenbaum finished.

The Playing POTUS documentary is nominated for an Audience Award at Tribeca.
Greenbaum isn’t the only one who blamed Trump for the team’s loss. On June 8, a CNN guest also suggested that President Trump brought bad luck to the Knicks. The team’s winning streak ended during his appearance at the Garden.
Former Trump White House Communications Director Alyssa Farah Griffin, who was also visiting CNN, said she would have advised against the visit.
“From a political standpoint, I would have advised him against this because the Knicks are on this incredible winning streak,” she said. “If he loses tonight, everyone is going to blame him. They’re going to say, ‘He jinxed it. He cursed it. His presence was a distraction.'”

Trump’s attendance at the game marked the first time a sitting U.S. president appeared at an NBA Finals game. His arrival led to heightened security throughout the area.
Streets around the Garden were closed following news of his attendance. Fans went through airport-style screenings, and entry times were extended due to Secret Service protocols.

At the Garden, Trump was seated courtside as part of a high-profile, sold-out crowd that included A-list celebrities, such as Timothee Chalamet, Ben Stiller, and Spike Lee.
Game 4 is scheduled in New York on June 10, and at least one additional game is guaranteed in San Antonio following the Knicks’ recent loss.
