Boil water advisory issued for city of Rome

The City of Rome is under a boil water advisory until further notice. This comes after repairs were made on the city’s water filtration system.

Rome’s Department of Public Works is currently taking water samples throughout the city to monitor the situation.

“With safety being the main concern for the users of the Rome Public Water System, I issue this Boil Water Advisory,” Commissioner of Public Works Joseph Guiliano said. “The City of Rome’s Department of Public Works Water Operators are currently taking water samples throughout the city to continually monitor the situation. This random location testing will assist in locating any contaminated drinking water that needs to be flushed out of the system. The New York Department of Health (NYSDOH) has been in constant contact with the City of Rome’s Chief Operator from the onset of this incident.”

Officials say that drinking water should be brought to a full rolling boil for one minute and then cooled before use.
