An explosion at a metal processing facility in Kütahya Province, western Türkiye, has injured workers, with emergency services responding and investigations into the cause under way.

The incident occurred at approximately 07:00 local time on 11 June 2026 at a metal processing facility located in the Gediz Organised Industrial Zone in Kütahya Province, western Türkiye.

According to reports from Turkish media and news agencies, the explosion originated in a melting furnace during operational activity at the site.

One worker was seriously injured and treated for burns following the incident, while two additional workers were affected by smoke inhalation. Fire crews attended the scene and extinguished a fire that broke out following the explosion.

Emergency services were deployed to the facility and operations in the affected area were suspended while safety assessments were carried out.

The cause of the explosion has not been confirmed. Investigations are ongoing.
