Hakan Fidan met with Vladimir Putin during an official visit to Russia.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, June 17, in the city of Kazan and was attended by Sergey Lavrov and Yury Ushakov.
During the talks, Putin said that relations between Moscow and Ankara are continuing to develop steadily.
The Russian president added that ties between the two countries have moved beyond purely formal relations and have reached the level of “friendly and expanding relations.”
Putin also said that this progress is largely connected to the approach taken by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and asked Fidan to convey his messages to the Turkish leader.
For his part, Fidan delivered messages from Erdoğan to Putin and stated that several important issues remain on the agenda of both countries. He also noted that Russia’s experience in regional and international affairs is significant.
