Canberra will send two further $50 million tranches to bolster Ukraine’s air defenses, a move that could shift frontline dynamics.
The Australian government announces the provision of an additional $100 million in military aid to Ukraine, focused on critically important defensive equipment and air defense systems in response to Russia’s aggression.
According to the Australian Department of Defence, after preliminary approval in December last year for $50 million under the Ukraine Priority Needs List (PURL) initiative, Australia will provide two additional contributions of $50 million over the next 12 months.
As part of its partnership with NATO, Australia continues to support Ukraine in providing critically important weaponry, including air defense systems and munitions necessary for self-defense.

Overall Support Levels and Coalition Participation
This decision increases Australia’s total assistance to Ukraine to more than $1.8 billion, of which more than $1.6 billion has gone toward military support since the start of the full-scale invasion.
Canberra continues to play an active role in the Coalition of the Willing, bringing together more than 35 countries, strengthening support in the pursuit of a fair and lasting peace. The Australian Defence Force also continues training Ukrainian personnel as part of Operation Kudu; training is taking place in Poland as part of the multinational Legion operation led by Norway.
According to the Department of Defence, Australia remains steadfast in supporting Ukraine, which is defending itself against Russian aggression.
