Katalyst Space, a Flagstaff, Arizona-based space tech company, raised $12M in funding.
The funding round was led by Geodesic Capital, with participation from Fortitude Ventures and other investors.
The company intends to use the funds to develop its NEXUS robotic spacecraft and expand satellite servicing to multi-orbit, multi-mission operations.
Katalyst is an aerospace company that designs and builds robotic spacecraft, modular hardware payloads, and software to service and upgrade satellites that are already orbiting Earth. Their core focus includes:
Space Domain Awareness (SDA): Providing software and decentralized sensor networks to help military and commercial operators track space debris, monitor surrounding environments, and manage space traffic.
In-Orbit Upgrades: They provides retrofit systems (like their SIGHT sensor) that can be installed on existing, unequipped satellites to give them new capabilities, such as improved cameras or optics for space domain awareness.
Robotic Servicing & Repairs: Developing multi-mission robotic spacecraft (like NEXUS and the Quark orbital transfer vehicle) capable of autonomously approaching, docking with, and maneuvering other satellites to extend their operational lifespan.
Space Rescue Missions: They work with government agencies like NASA and the U.S. Space Force.
The company has additional locations in Broomfield, CO, and Washington, DC.
