IEA chief warns Europe to prepare for total shutdown of Russian gas exports

  1. This was the inevitable conclusion of the situation the moment Western Europe (and thank God they did) made up its mind on helping Ukraine.

If your politicians had an ounce of foresight and decisiveness, we would have a consortium of European arms manufacturers already mass-producing 155 mm howitzers and AA missile systems and you could have a bloodied Russia signing discount gas contracts before winter.
But since they’ve been dragging their feet at every step, you get almost the worst of both worlds.

  2. Thank the gods I don’t live in some primitive country where entire industries rely on PutinGas™, or worse yet heat my home with it.

  3. To be honest, there comes a point at which you’ve made all the preparation and done your best, and then you just accept the cost and cut off the leg. Fuckit, we’ll hop for a bit.

Every single bit of energy infrastructure in Russia just became a viable target though.
