Hi there. I’m Polish but I try to follow Hungarian politics due to similarities in our hopelessness.
Yet – when I follow Fidesz politics – majority of comments and reactions, even to such horrible ideas are positive. Is hungarian public perspective really like this? People do not fear about looming economic stagnation and inflation that will follow after the release of the prices?

On Reddit, people obviously know that this is bullshit and in the end the customers will have to pay for it in some form on another.
In the general public and among Fidesz supporters, who are of lower education, this is super popular.
He’s being humble – HE decided – not the “Government”. The Government is composed of the biggest degenerates and other sub-humans in the history of mankind.
Everything has been treated with propaganda so far. There is also propaganda instead of crisis management. And when reality will knocking on their door, they will blame the EU, the USA, Ukraine. Just another chapter in their populist handbook.

Orbán just wants to make it easy for the average poor, badly-educated Hungarian dudes/dudettes to convert EUR to HUF, so that they don’t go “number complicated, brain hurty” so he aims for 400-500-1000 HUF/EUR rates to make it easy for his people! ❤️ /s
Alapvetően az átlag magyar emberek nem kifejezetten örömködnek ezen, maximum könnyebbnek találják, hogy legalább az üzemanyag ára nem megy feljebb, illetve egyes élelmiszerek ára is marad. A kormánypárti szavazóbázis magja nyilván örül, hogy a drága jó miniszterelnök ezt is elintézte, viszont az átlag magyar ha bemegy a boltba, az infláció hatását tapasztalja mindenhol.. Ez alapján nem mondanám olyan nagyon népszerű intézkedésnek ezt, ami alapján több szavazót tudnának bevonzani.

I can already see the headlines:” Brussels crashed us so they can appear as our saviour” or some other similar idiocy.
The average fidesz voter’s mentality doesn’t go beyond “big corporations (and all the evil foreign countries – nevermind that we’re supposedly in a certain economic alliance with them) want to bleed us dry, and Big Daddy, our protector, the second coming of Christ himself will do everything in his power to strike back and stand up for the common man”. No concept of nuance.

So back maybe 10-15 years ago, Russia was the number one evil, the primary emotional button to push due to ’56 and the general oppression after WW2.
Since then, propaganda has managed to go through full 1984 levels of enemy-switcheroo, except done slowly, *on an emotional level*. “Oceania was at war with Eastasia.” isn’t simply a fact everyone just remembers from now on, no, Oceania is the number one evil.
Now we’re almost at a point where people escaping from Ukraine are seen as uncivilised raving rapists, just like how the people were seen during the immigrant crisis a few years back.

I mostly agree with it despite all their flaws of these acts. I think I’m rather a “lefty” guy, and it’s quite annoying when the government does rather socialist measures (obviously these are not neoconservative or libertarian acts), that part of the opposition which cries because of taking cutting social expenses or labor rights and so on (which can be said about every one of them), and I must say mostly righteously, does the same with these measures in the same vain. These acts might be bad decisions, but those politicians and talking heads, or just socialist sympathizers who are mostly criticizing the government for benefiting only the upper class should at least argue about what should be done in a constructive way, when there are some effort from the government in this direction and not act as a full-blown capitalist.
Loyalists support it, opposition hates it. In this sub, you mostly find pro-opposition circlejerk (loyalist counterpart is non-existent on reddit afaik).
Maybe you should ask this shit on a site thats not polluted by liberals. You can do no good for them, no matter what…

Its like people think the money the government has is at like an infinite supply, and comes from mars or something and not the people. Until now most of it came from the EU. I sincerely don’t understand where its coming from now, but the mentality that most Hungarians have over these things. We have this thing called the “rezsicsokkentes”, which are government subsidies on consumer energy prices. And people are so fucking happy about it for some reason, as if the money that comes from the government to limit their prices didn’t come FROM THEM
That’s Hungary’s opposition. If the government would lower the prices and increase salaries they would say increase the prices and decrease salaries. Whatever the government does they want the opposite of it. These liberals do not understand that the even tho opposition has the word “opposite” in it, does not mean that the government is white the opposition is black. Take a look at South Korea where the whole parliament can work TOGETHER. THE MAIN JOB OF THE OPPOSITION IS TO HIGHLIGHT THE GOVERNMENT’S ISSUES AND HELP THEM FIX IT.
Our opposition is a joke. Take a look at our last vote. These pisslow percentages are valid, they really deserve only that. This sub mainly consists of these liberals. If you want to study our politics leave the news and social medias alone. You either find Orbán fanatics or brain-dead liberals. There’s no in-between.
