The money spent by the government on the national holiday festivities is a rounding error in the government’s budget. Plus it generates lots of taxes as well.
We’re not having our National Celebration for you expat folks only, you know.
Bro we Luxembourg. Worrying about money is for other people. Germans, for example.
There’s a great luxembourgish expression for people like the OP: « aale krekéierer » !
Inevitably every year, after national day or the fouer (or similar), they complain about the senseless expenses (minor as they might be), but in my experience they are the exact same people who otherwise complain about there never being any fun.
The only senseless expenses are the time wasted by the rest of us reading their inane ramblings. And don’t get me started on the “expat circus” or the Germans having to ration gas, they are lying in the bed of their own making!
what did they do with all the money that they DIDN’T spend by NOT having the celebrations for two years?
Jo, Yesterday’s fireworks are nuts
