Well, on the bright side – the order will be fulfilled with regimental aplomb and efficiency!
Nobody should have to work two jobs just to keep the lights on. The fucking state of this country.
If he worked in my local McDonald’s he’d be wishing he was back in Afghanistan..
Time to cut NI and income tax…
Such a shame – I and many of my colleagues in the NHS are doing the same- working our day job and taking annual leave to work as waitresses/waiters
Squaddies are famously shit with money. If you need a second job while being paid an above average wage, living in subsidised accommodation, with free medical, dental, gym membership, and subsidised food, you’re doing something wrong.
Huh, I find it strange that this is even a story. I’m a chef and I have a second job. A few of my mates also have a full time job plus a part time job. My mate who runs a gym also does the night shift at a McDonald’s.
This is the reality of modern Britain.
Firstly it’s the Birmingham Mail
Secondly it is a rehash of a equally crappy Sun article
Thirdly from the ‘article’
>One soldier’s tale of working at McDonald’s was announced at the ***Regimental Sergeant Majors’ Convention.***
One person doing this will just have people claiming it is an isolated incident or that this one person is bad with money. This won’t register until this is normal and you have teachers and nurses moonlighting between work to make ends meet.
Cost of greed crisis. Fixed it for ya.
“Cost of living crisis.” Can’t we just call it, being fucked repeatly by everything, crisis instead?

As for this? Either the soldier is piss poor with managing their cash or has family to support ontop of bills and rent. Either way, two jobs shouldn’t be a mandatory thing, just to make ends meet. If I end up having to get another job, I just know I’ll end up doing days where I basically work from 8am until 9pm with no real break beyond getting home, changing for job number 2 and practically killing myself by existing to work and having no real days off.

I suspect the tosspots in charge won’t give a shit if we all end up working 2 jobs and tell us to work 5 different jobs. Or adapt a crunch approach where we all work 70-100 hour weeks.
Nobody is forcing him to work at McDonalds. What a shit, misleading headline.
“Forced” sounds a bit dubious. The very lowest salary for someone who has completed training is £20,400. Also people in the armed forces get subsidized accommodation, for as low as £0.78/day and £0.69/day utilities. This is all public information.
I expect he wants more a bit more which is fine, you should have the right to work even more if you want more money.

[MoD budget increased by £2.6B](https://www.parliament.uk/link/318be58a5333446a9eeb48d792f0b575.aspx) last year although it is expressed as £2,616m to make it look like a smaller amount…
