Fans who missed Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal the first time around will have to spend more than $1,700 for the chance to see the team Tuesday in Houston.
It is a significant jump from the final get-in price of $1,141 for last Wednesday’s match between Portugal and DR Congo.
Tickets to the Portugal matches had always been the most expensive of all the Houston group stage matches but prices have nearly doubled since the start of the tournament. The get-in price was $983 on June 11, the opening day of the World Cup. The price was up to $1,410 by the night of June 13 and then $1,748 by last Monday morning.
The cost has fluctuated over the past week between $1,436 and $1,858.
Tuesday’s match is the midway point of Houston’s World Cup schedule.
Portugal’s play during its first World Cup match in Houston left much to be desired. The team started out on the right foot with an early João Neves goal but the team took its foot off the gas after that and failed to develop any major chances.
Uzbekistan lost in its first match of the tournament against Colombia but Abbosbek Fayzullaev scored the team’s first World Cup goal in the 3-1 defeat. Uzbekistan is the first Central Asian country to play in the World Cup.
Both teams will have fan marches to the stadium ahead of the match. Portugal’s will depart from Smith’s Landing and Uzbekistan’s will depart from Helix Park.
