CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Robert Harrington was chosen by the Charlotte City Council as the new interim mayor on Monday night.
Harrington replaces Vi Lyles, who announced her resignation effective June 30 in early May.
Harrington, an attorney for Robinson Bradshaw and president of the North Carolina Bar Association, was one of five finalists for the interim position.
Harrington and the other candidates participated in a series of public interviews sharing their goals and priorities.
Harrington will serve the remainder of Lyles’ term, which is about 18 months.
