Among horology nerds, and even more casual watch fans, there has been a surge in popularity of independent watchmakers. We’ve found one hidden gem that looks just like a Rolex GMT-Master, and costs just a fraction of the price.

Hitori Watches, a micro brand taking inspiration from Japanese horology and constructing their watches in Japan, has a range of GMT watches called the ‘Meguro’, refined enough to be truly versatile, and sporty enough to have a relaxed feel to it. In the Fuyu White colour looks just like the prized Rolex timepiece.

With a sleek, minimal white dial, meant to evoke the texture and shimmer of freshly fallen snow, and a two-tone bezel, it has the same sleek and standout, but not ostentatious, appeal. It comes with a 39.6mm case, which is the perfect size to be noticeable without being completely dominant. Aside from its visual parallels, the Hitori Meguro GMT stands as a brilliant timepiece in its own right. Its automatic GMT movement has a 41-hour power reserve, and the piece is water resistant to 150 metres.

The Meguro watches are available in an array of colours, including a black and orange model, a brown and white, a black and blue, and a pink colour, all of which also come in the same stainless steel bracelet. This white model, specifically, retails for $780 USD (£588), which is less than a tenth of the retail price of the Rolex GMT-Master. For a watch that’s better than a simple dupe, we think this Hitori pick is a steal.
