Analysts from the Center for Countering Disinformation emphasize that the use of such a historical marker is aimed at the internal Russian audience.

In this context, they note that artificially equating the modern NATO defense bloc with the Third Reich and justifying mobilization of the population creates conditions for possible participation of citizens in combat against European states.

Moreover, experts note that such accusations by Russia appear against a backdrop of Western intelligence warnings that Russia could launch an armed strike against NATO member countries by 2030.

In this light they also recall remarks by the commander of the German Army Ground Forces, General-Lieutenant Christian Froeding, who noted the possibility of Germany preparing to attack a NATO member country in 2029 or even earlier.
