BURKBURNETT, Texas (KAUZ) – The United States men’s national soccer team (USMNT) may have already won Group D and secured their spot in the knockout round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but that isn’t stopping fans in Texoma from gathering together and cheering the team on for its final group stage match.
During the USMNT’s game against Türkiye on Thursday night at 9 p.m., the Burkburnett High School soccer teams will be hosting a community-wide watch party at Friendship Park Amphitheater. Attendance to the event is free, as the local teams are inviting people to join them in rooting on the U.S.
In an announcement for the event shared by the Burkburnett boys’ team, fans are being encouraged to bring a chair they can sit in and also wear their red, white and blue. The team also shared that food trucks will be at the event, as well as prizes.
For people who are not able to attend the in-person watch party, News Channel 6 Sports plans on bringing live coverage from the event on the station’s 10 p.m. newscast.
