WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – With the school year wrapping up, summer sports leagues are starting.
Jefferson Community college hosts many of the leagues.
Here’s how Jeff Wiley, JCC’s Athletic Director, put it:
“We have a great turnout. We have 19 teams this year signed up for this league. This is about the 15th, 16th year we’ve been doing it.
“All the coaches love it. Air-conditioned gym. We’re going for about seven weeks, a lot of them get eight games.
“A great opportunity for improvement over the summer.
“Tuesday nights for the girls so we have a lot of leagues up here. Volleyball’s on Monday, women’s basketball on Tuesday. We have the Matt Gorman camp coming in on Wednesday nights and then on Thursdays Coach Vaadi’s boys basketball league. He’s got 20 teams.
“So everybody loves the gym. Nice and air conditioned in the summer, especially in July.. We just got our floor done so it’s nice and sticky. A great atmosphere up here.”
