Freaked a lot of people out. One report of the tide going in and out five times in three hours and another where it dropped 1.5 metres in 5 minutes. Cases reported in Cork, Waterford and Wexford.

There was a small earthquake reported off the coast of Portugal. Another expert reckons it could have been an underwater landslide.

Hopefully it wasn’t the Ruskies testing their Tsunami missile.

Scary stuff nonetheless.

  1. We are coming to the end of a week of very high tides.
There will a difference of 1m between the high tide mark Tomorrow and last Monday in someplaces.

So maybe that has something to do with it.

  2. Oh that’s interesting, I was reading before about some 16th century earthquake off Portugal that changed the tidal range around Cork and meant towns like Clonakilty had to move where their harbours were.

Not sure if Ireland is as tsunami safe as we think.

  3. Ah, I was sea fishing from the rocks yesterday on the south coast, I was using a float, and the float kept changing direction, was wondering what the fuk was going on.

  4. There was an unusual freak wind storm in Normandy reported Sat/Sun also. Wind went from NIL – 100kmph in the space of seconds, and lasted 20 mins. One kite surfer was killed.

  5. A 2.6 earthquake off Portugal wouldn’t cause something that noticeable this far away. Gotta be another explanation.

  6. If it’s already there in the news that there was a small earthquake, why are you going on about secret missiles?
