HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – The fight over the future home of U.S. Space Command is heading back to court.
The Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce is asking a federal judge for permission to weigh in on Colorado’s lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s decision to move Space Command headquarters to Huntsville.
Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall also filed an amicus brief urging the U.S. District Court to dismiss Colorado’s lawsuit.
The relocation has been contentious across two administrations. President Trump picked Huntsville as the new home for Space Command in the final days of his first term. President Biden canceled that order and decided to keep the headquarters in Colorado Springs. When Trump returned to the White House, he again declared Space Command should relocate to Redstone Arsenal.
There are currently two U.S. Space Command facilities on Redstone Arsenal. The permanent headquarters is set to break ground in late 2027.
