Background:
The Norwegian government gives free housing to politicians who live more than 40km away from Oslo, to make sure that all politicians can go to work on an equal basis.
But for the last months, people have learnt that some of those out-of-Oslo politicians who received free housing in Oslo already have private housing in Oslo, which are often rented out to someone else to make extra money.
Earlier, the politicians claimed that this doesn’t violate rules and regulations, but the tax authority has nevertheless sent notices to 45 individuals who have done this to pay up. While a few have come forward publicly that they have received such notices, majority of politicians are yet to go public.
The PM is now saying that it’s up to each individual to go public because it is a “private matter.” But the issue of transparency is one of the centrepieces of the current platform, so the fallout can be quite significant.

The PM is more merciful than Aftenposten.
Fun fact: Tajik and Heggelund had their wedding at the hotel **The Thief** in Oslo.
