  1. Woukd really recommend using any private postage company for better tracking; UPS, Postnord etc…(POSTI is the state owned postage company). It is currently midsummer (Juhannus) season in Finland so there is a delay due to that (along with regular delays with the state run companies)!

  2. it’s only been 3 days. very normal to not get daily updates on any international shipping in my experience, and shipping within Finland usually is the same

plus it’s juhannus (a public holiday) atm so that’s gonna slow things down

  3. My friend, your first win is that the package has been registered somehow.
During juhannusviikko there’s nothing a mortal can do.
Unless there’s an update by 29th, you can start asking questions.

  4. You may want to check with your final courier. Try and type in the tracking number that Posti gave you in the website of your country’s postal service. Just recently I bought some stuff from Germany using DHL, in the track info they actually notified me that they would stop providing tracking information once the item arrived in Finland and I should use the track number in Posti’s site instead. Perhaps for you, it would be the other way around.

  5. Very normal. I have tracked shipments from Finland to my associates in Europe and the next update after this is “delivered” status.

  6. Posti is and has been a national joke. Somehow privatizing it made it even worse. Which is an accomplishment of sorts in a virtual monopoly.

  7. Ok, first of all, ~~21st~~ 24th ~~was~~ is a public holiday in FI, so nothing happens that day.

If you had ground transport (the cheapest) option, they put it on the ferry to Sweden maybe on the 22nd in the evening (more likely only yesterday) and it is now in Sweden. Now it will be sorted by the Swedish post, but they may not update any tracking information before Monday.

With some luck, your package is soon on a train to Denmark, but don’t expect anyone to scan it before the weekend is over…

Normally, 10-14 days is very common for packages within the EU. Sad but true.

What really amazes me, though, is that packages from China take about the same time.

  8. Priority parcel from Germany to Finland, which should’ve arrived within the next 3 days (my relative posted it on a Monday), finally came after 6 weeks.

A postcard from Italy to Finland recently took 7 weeks to arrive, so all in all I think you’re still lucky to receive ANY kind of info haha. Good luck!

  9. My package was also stuck in Posti for a month, almost two for no apparent reason earlier this year. Although it was sent from a different EU country. I would have been fine with the wait, but it included a birthday gift that was received extremely late.

  10. Posti by now only has 1 employee per city, so give it time 😀 The person is busy cutting grass, handling other posts and being the clerk at the local post office.

  11. No worries. Your package is in the customs office and you’ll get an update once it gets processed. Which can take any time from days to weeks.

  12. The way international shipping works, Posti can report on items until it is in their borders, then they will handoff to international shipper ( like UPS), then your own national postal service.
Yes, there is a difficulty in tracking. If all goes well, your postal service will start reporting this in few days.

  13. That’s Posti for you. Yall haven’t experienced the fun of having all of your mail delivered by it because yall have your FedExes and such which actually deliver on time XD

  14. My experience on getting packets from Fi to NL has been about a week if it’s a postcard and between 2-4 weeks if a package

  15. well, dependend on to which country you order, it can take atleast a week.when I order from Germany f.e, or my sister sends me something from Germany, it takes atleast a week to arrive.same as when I’ve send her something from Finland. And we have currently a public holiday so it can take a few days longer even.Don’t fret, it will arrive, it just takes a little bit. 🙂

  16. Me and my Finish girlfriend exchange letters often for the romance of it. And it usually takes 2-3 weeks for a simple postcard to arrive (I live in Norway)

  17. Sounds like perfectly normal shitty posti service to me.

I am still waiting for my James Bond VHS its now been about 27 years since they lost it.

  18. Former employee for the foreign branch of Dutch national post here:

When shipping internationally, many post companies are not up to date with their scans. Track and trace is a sham too in most cases, as the Posti site might update once you already have your package. This is the case in every country around the world. I saw a comment here stating that a Dutch update will be quicker. This is 100% correct. It will appear eventually, but there is no way of telling. If you really need to know, you can dare to call the service number, but you will be held on hold so long you might as well drive to Finland yourself to get your package. But they might give you an indication. Scans are tricky and very inacurate, even in Finland where everything else is just slightly better than in the Netherlands. In my experience it might be two weeks, but packages from Finland usually turn up fine.

Sorry for rambling, hope you found something useful.
