AIKEN — Third Time’s the Charm offers a different kind of shopping experience.
“I think when someone steps in here, they feel like they’re doing something interactive instead of just going and picking something up off a shelf,” said Taylor Boland of her new business in downtown Aiken. “They can curate their own custom jewelry.”
Third Time’s the Charm is in the Pink Icing Boutique at 113 Laurens St. S.W., Suite 107.
The shop sells a wide variety of the little trinkets known as charms.
“There are thousands of choices,” Boland said. “There are cross charms, there are flower charms and there are outdoorsy-type charms. You can get your birthstone or your initials. We’ve got pearls.”
The charms can be attached to what Boland calls “bases,” which include necklaces, bracelets and earrings that also are available for purchase. There are gold-filled, gold-plated and stainless steel options.
“I want everyone to be happy with their selections,” Boland said. “If they’re not, we’re going to fix it and work on it and make sure it’s perfect.”
Third Time’s the Charm also sells keepsake jewelry.
“We can do ashes (cremains), we can do hair and we can do flowers,” Boland said. “We can also do breast milk jewelry. Moms love it.”
In addition, the shop offers engraving services.
Third Time’s the Charm, which made its debut in early June, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Private appointments can be scheduled at other times.
Boland got the idea for her business when she was pregnant with her third child.
“I needed something for the ladies at my baby shower to do,” she said. “Flower bars are popular, but the people from out of town couldn’t really take the flowers home. I needed something they could keep forever, so jewelry was something that really stood out. There were charm bars popping up here and there, and I knew they were kind of trendy.
