Unpopular opinion: they got what they voted for.
Pay attention people, protest votes have consequences.

How is this Belgian related?
Anyway, since the political parties that matter in the usa are economically right wing(onesided) this is godsend for them. A recycled social problem they can divided people with and fight about in the comming future. A new talking point to distract people with.
It’s sad to think that the argumentation used in this overturn could target LGBTQ+ rights and birth control next.
To think that people in 2016 saying you should vote Clinton to protect the supreme court would be proven right in the end. Small solace in that.
I’m not a legal specialist so correct me if I’m wrong. But as I understand it, the repeal of RvW simply creates the same situation in the USA as in Belgium. I don’t think the right to abortion is guaranteed by our Constitution. We allow abortion because an democratically elected majority voted in favor of a pro-choice law.
Ok one thing people should understand is that the gun decision of SCOTUS of concealed carry in NY is not a bad thing.
Before it used to be that NY was may-issue. Meaning if you want to walk around with a gun you’d have to do a couple of courses and then show cause, meaning you need to explain why you want to carry the gun. Reality is that if you did that you didn’t get the gun. If you stretched a ‘donation’ to your application all of the sudden there wasn’t any problem. Now that has been deemed illegal. If someone does the test and meets the objectives: great. You get to carry.
The law needs to be fair and predictable.
It’s off course interesting to see which Belgian politicians condemn the ban (Vld, groen, vooruit), and which support it (Vlaams-Belang), but what you should do is pay special attention to the parties who say nothing today.
When a leftist activist farts in the US Bart de wever writes a commentary in a newspaper about it, but yesterday he said nothing.
