In what can be considered a pretty on brand move, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth absolutely ripped into an unnamed reporter during his concert in Finland this past Friday.
The ’80s legend has always carried a reputation for his lack of a filter, which fans have grown to love about him over the years. It has always paired well with the raw, fiery, and aggressive style that Megadeth are known for. Hearing Mustaine snarl over the mic just wouldn’t be the same if he couldn’t back it up in person, and did he ever showcase his ability to exactly that.
To introduce their song “Let There Be Shred,” Mustaine spoke about an interview he gave to a reporter back stage before the show, and the feelings he had about the unnamed journalist.
“The guy was such a f***ing d***head,” Mustaine bluntly stated. He spoke about how the reporter was asking him if he could beat Metallica singer James Hetfield in a fight, which Mustaine reacted to by saying: “what kind of a f***ing idiot would say something like that?”
Mustaine went on to dedicate the song to him, and continue on with the show. The moment was received with uproars of laughter from the crowd, who seemed to empathize with Dave’s anger.
“Classic Dave,” the caption read, which summarized much of what fans felt about the video, with other fans commenting their thoughts about the story.
“I’m totally in love.”
“God I love him. 🥰🥰❤️🎸”
“The king. 👑”
Mustaine has always unapologetically been himself, and this concert clip is certainly another example of that. It’s certainly entertaining to have an icon of the ’80s still being true to himself and his personality all these years later while playing some killer music too. Megadeth is on a world tour now, and I’m sure we’ll see plenty more of classic Dave Mustaine.
