I liked it. Instead of sitting with existential dread or ennui, Ernie decides to give himself a quest to complete, to find some purpose and once done he carries on. It’s like he did a little side quest to get back on track with his life…
There was a lot of stories about protections needed by the actual Joshua trees in the park as so many people touching them, breaking bits of them and even the sheer number of people actually in the area were damaging them. I think during lockdown it reached fever pitch.
