Dirndl cake for my German-American wife’s birthday – Alles gute zum Geburtstag!

  1. It’s a lovely cake to look at, but just to make sense of some of the comments you’ve already got (and no doubt will continue to get):

    * The dirndl isn’t representative of all of Germany, only rural Bavaria (and, for that matter, only parts of “Old Bavaria” in the south) and Austria. Germans tend to get a bit irritated to see everyone instantly reach for Bavarian stereotypes.
    * The lacing suggests you’ve taken inspiration from a version of the dirndl that was designed by Nazis, with the intention of “de-catholicizing” the traditional dress, and sexualizing it. Traditional and modern dirndls are much plainer and less revealing.

It’s also slightly odd to see German being written in American cursive. Those gingerbread hearts are usually written in [this kind of script](https://estore.pulsnitzer-lebkuchen.de/WebRoot/epagesDE/Shops/pulsn1/51D2/AC88/C96E/7730/F73D/D5C6/4F88/E658/Herz22_Geburtstag3.png). But that’s just me being needlessly nit-picky.
