BESSEMER, Ala. (WBRC) – WBRC has confirmed one of the companies involved in the massive and controversial data center project in Bessemer.
A spokesperson with QTS Data Centers tells WBRC that the company is pursuing plans for a proposed data center campus on the Project Marvel site in Bessemer.
Our partners at the Birmingham Business Journal report the land for Project Marvel was recently purchased by a top private equity firm in deals worth more than $870 million.
Bessemer city leaders could take some action on the controversial proposed massive data center this week. Sunday, neighbors gathering to learn about its potential impacts ahead of the council meeting Tuesday.(WBRC)
Earlier this year, 6 On Your Side Investigates travelled to Fayetteville, Georgia to see a QTS data center currently under construction. The development sits on more than 600 acres. The proposed data center campus in Bessemer could look similar to the one in Georgia.
