ROME, N.Y. — Construction has moved into the next phase for a new roundabout on St. Rt. 825 in the City of Rome.
According to the Office of Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, an on-site detour will start July 7 and will last through the construction period.
Traffic will be limited to a single lane in each direction with turning lanes and a temporary traffic light at the Perimeter Road and St. Rt. 825 intersection.
Temporary accommodations for pedestrians and bicycles will also be in place, and commuters are advised to expect minor delays.
The project supports Chobani’s planned dairy processing facility at the County-owned Triangle Site at Griffiss International Airport.
The roundabout will link St. Rt. 825 to an improved Perimeter Road, which will be the main access to the Triangle Site and Chobani’s future facility.
A noise wall, which is nearly finished, will separate nearby homes from the roundabout.
Both the noise wall and roundabout are expected to be completed this fall, according to the county executive.
Other projects led by Oneida County include building a 12-inch steel natural gas main, a sanitary sewer pump station and force main, and installing a new electrical service to deliver 50 megawatts of power to the Triangle Site.
Work will continue in phases throughout 2026 alongside Chobani’s construction schedule.
