Suspected foot and mouth disease outbreak investigated on Norfolk farm

  1. Hardly surprising given the conditions these animals live in.

    > other cloven-hoofed animals.

Has someone informed the front benchers.

  2. No big deal if they can contain it and stop movement of animals within the county or specific villages. However it does once again provide evidence of the issues with animal agriculture and intensive farming. Diseases spread like wildfire and it does not take much for those diseases to jump the species barrier. With demand for animal products on the rise around the world, the chances of a serious illness coming from the animal agriculture industry keep growing.

  3. Oh god no. The last one was horrific, the noise of the guns as the local farm worked steadily through 400 cattle was nightmarish and that’s before they started on the burning.

  4. Foot and Mouth has been conclusively ruled out by a lot of tests. So now they have dead pigs but no explanation. They’ve lifted the lockdown zone for everything except other pig farms within 10km.

  5. If they don’t get that under control, it’s 2001 all over again. I still remember those images from BBC news around that time. Nightmarish stuff for a kid to be seeing 😣

  6. I’m not really liking the comparison of the farm animals to politicians.

That’s a bit mean to the farm animals…….

  7. Oh fuck. Fuck. Fucking fuck.

I helped to gather evidence for the inquiry into the last outbreak. Video, photos etc. In the Lake district.

It was beyond grim. The road from Penrith to Keswick with dozens of fires.

Met a farmer whose ancient family line of sheep was killed off by F&M & rendered extinct.

Another friend went nuts. He even shot his sheep dogs. 🙁

    Another friend barricaded her drive.

So the army moved the barricade & drove up her loooong drive.

“Is this ABC farm?” They asked

“No, it’s ABD farm.” My buddy replied.

The Army left, scratching their heads. because they could not read a map.

    Next day they came back.

“You’ve had dangerous contact…….. From the Army vehicles yesterday. Your stock will be shot.”

Auctioneer valued her stock at £90 000. Including several rare breeds.

    (He was on a percentage)

    She received £0.00

And they left hundreds of carcasses outside her kitchen window. For a week.

She’s never really got over that.
