Good morning everyone. The conservatives are toast.
Fall guy to save Boris.
Happy Friday! At last the end is in sight.
Blimey, they knew this was coming but I think the scale of the defeat surprised even them.
How lovely, happy Friday folks
What a loser 😂
Boris must stay to ensure these defeats are repeated at the next general election. Labour and the lib dems need to get together, in secret if necessary, and maximise the defeat. Its not just Boris that needs to be got rid but the whole lot of them.
The paragraph in his resignation letter that reads
“We cannot carry on with business as usual. Somebody must take responsibility and I have concluded that, in these circumstances, it would not be right for me to remain in office.”
Definitely reads like “we cannot carry on like this. Someone clearly needs to resign and you sure as hell aren’t going to voluntarily so I will.”
Tories are in deep trouble if people like Dowden are resigning and implicitly suggesting Johnson needs to go.
This guy was previously a stalwart Boris supporter. His letter was nothing short of excoriating. What I find hilarious is how NOW, almost at the drop of a hat, huge numbers of tory mps are doing a complete pivot and parroting the line that ousting Johnson is for the ‘soul’ of the party and the ‘morally’ right thing to do. NOW they are uncomfortable with the sleaze and barefaced lying and the naked corruption and the overt moral bankruptcy.
We are probably heading for a snap election if the inner tory cabal find a way of engineering a second vote of no confidence in the coming months, but I hope and pray people don’t forget the train of pathetic mps lining up to defend the indefensible like clockwork every single day when Johnson was seen as a vote winner. There is nothing more reprehensible and unpalatable than hypocrisy and Conservative party have shown the very very worst type time and again. They knew what Boris was when he started his tenure with sleaze and corruption and where a brickwall in their defence of him when it suited them to profit off the back of NHS staff working till collapse and asylum seekers dying in the Channel.
Wish I could just dinghy my responsibilities when the going gets tough…
That’s delicious. Please stay on Boris, not too long to a general election now!
If Starmer had any stones he’d go the no confidence GE route if Boris won’t step down. I would assume basically every single non-conservative in parliament would vote in favour of the motion and a good deal of the con backbenchers would too. Nobody has confidence in this government. As far as my count goes, 76 conservatives would need to vote in favour. I think it can be done.
Personally i don’t want Boris to leave as leader because with him in charge they are going to get wrecked at the next election. If he leaves it gives the media the go ahead to treat it as a fresh start and we’ll be stuck with cons as voters give them a second chance because voters are stupid.
Then someone with sense will take over, the country will rejoin the single market and restore freedom of movement and then i’m getting the fuck outta here.
The optimist in me thinks this is finally the leadership tumbling.
The pessimist says he is acting as the sacrifice to blame, draw away from Johnson and in a few months he will be rewarded with another cushy job. See Grant Schaps or whatever name he chooses to go by
meanwhile Raab ‘hadn’t quite understood the full extent’
Why would the last labour government do this?!
Hopefully Bozo will resign, but he has no honour and will let every other CONservative fall on their sword before he even contemplates going.
Good, now Boris Johnson and the conservatives can move on and sort out the inflation problem by raising rates to 8%
‘I’d like to see Boris Johnson wriggle out of this one!’
*Boris easily wriggles out of it*
Ah well, nevertheless…
Operation Save Big Dog working well then.
Everyone in 2019: Lol why are you letting BJ be PM? He’s an absolute buffoon, and aside from definitely not being good for the country, he will also wreck your party. He’s been divisive amongst Tory ministers from day one.
Tories in 2022: *shocked Pikachu face*
> On that occasion, the party marked the victory with rally during which leader Ed Davey used an orange hammer to smash down a wall made up of blue bricks, while a **gaggle of presumably grinning masked supporters chortled in the background.**
I think this is Sky showing their political bias quite openly.
He hasn’t suddenly grown a conscience, this is about future career and saving his constituency seat.
The letter really says it all: he doesn’t actually care about all the awful things Boris and his mates have done, he only cares about not getting votes
Good. He is a hypocritical self-serving motherfucker and I hope he is the first of many to go.

I never would have thought a slime ball such as [Oliver ‘culture war’ Dowden](https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/oliver-down-woke-cancel-culture-heritage-foundation-chairman-mao_uk_620a8b56e4b083bd1cc2905e) would have enough smarts to get it together to resign his position.
It must be a hell of a lot worse than we suspect.
…and nothing of value was lost.
