The fallout from one of the most explosive moments in recent 90 Day Fiancé history isn’t slowing down. After facing intense backlash for telling fellow cast member Thaís Ramone to “go back to your country” during 90 Day: The Last Resort, Shekinah Güven has broken her silence, insisting viewers didn’t see the full story and claiming she was the one who was physically attacked before making the now-viral remark.
In a series of Instagram Stories posted after the episode aired, Shekinah thanked supporters who reached out privately, writing, “I really appreciate all the people in my DMs and comments who see things for what they really are. Your support and understanding means a lot, because as you can see I was surrounded but very ignorant characters.”

She then directly addressed the confrontation, saying, “What I experienced was a PHYSICAL ATTACK.” Shekinah also defended the controversial comment that ignited the backlash, writing, “‘Go back to your country’ means go back to where doing this is allowed. Cause where I’m from, it’s not.”
Shekinah went on to offer additional context that viewers didn’t hear during the episode. According to her, Patrick Mendes had spent part of the day encouraging Kara Leona’s husband, Guillermo Rojer, to leave the marriage and take Kara’s earnings with him.

“You may or may not have noticed that I was trying to tell Kara that Patrick had been in her husband’s ear earlier that day advising him to take half of her money when he divorces her,” she wrote.
She claimed Thaís—whom she described as Kara’s “friend”—”sat by and said nothing,” before alleging that she confronted Kara privately and “that’s when Thaís became violent, taking swings at me.”
Shekinah ended the post with a pointed question: “But I’m the villain and mean girl, right?”
The Instagram response comes just days after 90 Day: The Last Resort aired the explosive bar confrontation. During the episode, Shekinah accused Patrick of stirring up problems between Kara and Guillermo, prompting Thaís to defend her husband.
As the argument escalated, Shekinah shouted, “Get this b*tch out of here. Go back to your country. You suck.”
Thaís, who immigrated from Brazil, later said she couldn’t understand how someone married to an immigrant could make such a remark, calling it “so disrespectful” and saying Shekinah had “totally crossed the line.”
Rebecca Parrott agreed, saying it’s the one thing you don’t say during an argument with an immigrant, while Kara admitted she had been willing to hear Shekinah’s side until that moment.
The latest controversy follows weeks of mounting drama surrounding Shekinah and Sarper Güven on the TLC spinoff. According to CinemaBlend, the couple could leave The Last Resort early, and speculation about the future of their marriage has continued to circulate online.
The series itself places struggling couples from across the 90 Day Fiancé franchise in an intensive relationship retreat designed to salvage their marriages.
The incident also arrives as the broader 90 Day Fiancé franchise has been dealing with another race-related controversy. Reports recently surfaced that 90 Day: Hunt for Love Season 2 allegedly removed cast members Razvan Ciocoi and newcomer Landon from production following separate incidents involving racial slurs.
Those claims, however, have not been confirmed by the network as of this writing.
