Taken to A&E but thankfully okay.
Seems illegal parking outside the school was an issue so bollards went up…leading parents to park illegally a little further away from the school.
i seriously doubt the kid was forced to run out between illegally parked cars.
Feel for the driver because they had no chance znd now have to deal with this.
I do my best to avoid schools when kids are being collected because parents don’t care and needlessly make the area a hazard to everyone.
Even the footpaths aren’t safe.
Teach your kids not to run out between two cars, whether they’re parked legally or illegally

I have noticed the lollypop ladies in renmore near the kingfisher gym and St Mary’s road/ Taylor hill roads parking on the zigzag lines/ path of the crossing they are meant to be managing.. fucking daft and dangerous.
Throw up actual protected segregated cycle lanes all along the distributer road, get the cars off the school run and make it safe for kids to cycle to school
Law, reason and logic go out the window when a parent has to drop their kid to school. And it must be right in front of the gate. Or else.
Too many parents are just selfish pricks unfortunately. My kids’ school has a short drop off area outside the entrances (plural) but they’re almost always full of cars either parked outright (no one in them) or parents sitting in them after dropping their kids and are now looking at their phones. It’s rare I’m able to pull in, drop and get out of there straight away.
Last year there was a blitz with a Garda present every morning next to the zebra crossing. Saw a few parents arguing with him when he tried to move them on from parking too close to it. The following week it was back to the usual.
