  1. We had the opportunity to do something good for a movement thats been blocked by religious zealots and we just failed. Im no patriotic person but this brings me such shame.

It boils my blood it really does. Not only are this couple not allowed the chance to grieve as any parent should but that they have to risk her life.. manafx.

I cant imagine how many local women had to have suffered through this and it was not publicised because of stupid backwards mentality.

  2. She was finally let go and have been flown to Spain to do the abortion.

Fuck Malta all the way to hell obviously, but at least she’s getting the help she needs now.

  3. I cant’t understand what the hell was going on here! This story has raised various questions in my head.
Let me start off by saying that if I had the power to legalise abortion, I wouldn’t (but that’s a different discussion for another day). However this is a different case. This is not abortion by choice, this is (from what we know) a case of saving the mother or not.

So why was she denied abortion when various doctors have spoken out that in such extreme cases, the Maltese law and health-care system would have allowed the procedure to take place. Even the head of the Maltese Church (who is labeled to be the most conservative) spoke out in favour of the procedure, so clearly from a Catholic perspective there is a moral obligation to save the mother over the child.
This makes me wonder if there is some detail we do not know especially given that other concerning issues never even make it to local media and this story made international headlines (not that it should not).
If the couple had the means to pay for the airlift to Spain why didn’t they just do so in the first place rather than wasting precious time and going to local and international media?

  4. I really don’t care what the rest of the world thinks.

If we amend or remove laws in our country, it should be with sober minds and clear thought, not international pressure.

A lot of Western countries are flushing themselves down the toilet and I have no interest in being dragged down with them.

  5. As usual everyone is quick to criticize Malta… meanwhile in the USA there is no “automatic” abortion right either. It will depend on the state laws (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jun/24/roe-v-wade-overturned-abortion-summary-supreme-court?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other) so this could have sadly happened to her at home too (assuming American= from USA).

P.S. before attacking below on abortion Vs non-abortion…re-read the above merely stating a fact. And let’s stop attacking our home nation and calling ourselves names.

  6. It’s pretty ironic by claiming ourselves to be pro-life towards the foetus but that doesn’t count towards the dying mother.

  7. There must be presumably thousands of Maltese women who have been in a similar predicament. Yet the media only cares because a foreigner had a problem. There is an inbuilt racism in this world which is sickening.

As for this case, this person was getting treatment she would only dream off in the US and the problem started when her insurance wanted an immediate abortion .. why ? So they keep her stay in hospital to a minimum and hence their payout to a minimum. In Malta there is no rush to throw people out of their beds, the baby was still alive even if not expected to survive so the whole issue was over timing.

If someone had bothered to check the facts instead of politicize the situation. And that is the problem with todays mob mentality which btw is always and very easily being manipulated.. you light the fuse Thake the dry tinder of emotions and lazy IQ does the rest.
