MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson sent a letter to Vice President JD Vance ahead of his Wednesday visit, asking him to meet with election officials in response to the FBI’s probe into the results of the 2020 election.
“I know to be true that Donald Trump won elections for President of the United States in 2016. I know for a fact that Donald Trump won the election for President of the United States in 2024. And I also know, without a shadow of a doubt, for a fact, it’s been litigated time and again, that Donald Trump did not win the election for President of the United States in 2020,” says Johnson. “In a swing state that went the President’s way twice, but did not once because it’s a swing state.”
The ongoing federal probe is looking into Milwaukee’s 180,000 absentee ballots cast that year. Agents were reportedly interviewing members of the Milwaukee police as recently as May.
Mayor Johnson also called for the ballots cast that year to be destroyed.
“Whatever needs to happen and whatever can happen to put this thing to bed finally, I think should happen,” says Johnson. “The administration should stop the FBI probe.”
