— One passenger was transported to the hospital for evaluation of possible injuries after a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Lake Andrew Township.
The preliminary investigation by the
Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office
found that one vehicle failed to yield at the intersection of County Road 5 and County Road 40 west of New London.
According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling southbound on County Road 5 and failed to yield, colliding with a 2015 GMC Yukon. The driver of the Malibu is identified as Cadence Freitag, 19, of Brandon, South Dakota.
The GMC Yukon, driven by Kyle Bonnema, 27, of Hondo, Texas, was traveling eastbound on County Road 40. One passenger, 29-year-old Lauren Bonnema, also from Hondo, Texas, was transported by ambulance for further evaluation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The third vehicle involved is identified as a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Jason Fussy, 49, of
According to the news release from Sgt. Dave Nester, Fussy was driving northbound on County Road 5 and was turning eastbound onto County Road 40 before it also got involved in the crash. Abby Holtkamp,19, a passenger in the Silverado, was uninjured, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The crash was reported around 3:04 p.m. Tuesday. New London Ambulance, the New London Fire Department, the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad and the
also responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the news release.
