Countries who are still buying Russian oil

  1. Although I understand why the information is shared like this, since it’s rather easy to see who buys the oil, i’d like to point out that the netherlands buys as much oil because it gets refined here and sold to be used elsewhere.

    For reference, the netherlands has as much oil referinery capacity as France and 2/3rds as much as Germany. So, we don’t drink a swig of crude with breakfast, rather we import the crap and it gets refined and sold to elsewhere. As such, the netherlands is a big buyer, and relatively high consumption per capita, but not nearly as high as this graph would suggest.

  2. Gas is much more difficult to source from elsewhere than oil, so actually Italy and The Netherlands should be criticized the most, not Germany.

  3. That’s awful from the Netherlands. One of the worst track records for Russian appeasement but seems to slip the radar for this.

  4. I thought marine oil shipments would be the easiest to replace? Why might the Netherlands not have already replaced them?

  5. All talk Poland! Since 4 months Polish made propaganda here how they cut the gas, how honorable ethical they are and how Germany is evil. Look where they are

  6. Holy fuck. I already knew that the rhetoric coming from certain eastern European countries against “evil Germany” was hypocritical. But to see these double standards in actual numbers is just mind-blowing.

  7. So… Poland 600B usd gdp -> 5B imports

    Germany 3,800B usd gdp -> 12.5B importts

    Hopefully our eastern european friends can do the math and think twice when blaming the west
