>Find it ironic that BoI is taking over the profitable products, yet you have to find your own current account provider
It’s to a provider of your choice, you can still go to BOI.
Why is it ironic
I was previously with KBC. I’d rather not have had my account automatically moved over to BoI
Why would BoI want to buy a bunch of some other bank’s current accounts? Retail current accounts at traditional banks are basically loss leaders; if the bank can’t use your current account to convert you to some profitable product like an investment account or a loan, they’d really rather you just kindly fuck off, thanks.
Mortgages are debt to be bought though, can you buy a current account that essentially belongs to the owner?
Anyone with investment accounts is about to get screwed if they are forced to close now u less they can transfer. Markets are a disaster at the moment.
I don’t think it’s solely motivated by profitability… they are not taking over the investment accounts which are a very profitable product. They also have their own investment products so it’s not like it’s a new area for them

Alanis Morissette has a lot to answer for.
