I’d love to see what data Prof. Pollard has to be able to make this claim, as that which is publicly available just doesn’t support it all:

* Of course, emergency hospitalisations and deaths are not *quite* the same thing as ICU admissions. The data we have on admissions to critical care by vaccination status comes from ICNARC, whose most recent publication reported data from May to July 2021 (when the national double-vaccination rate ranged from 22.8% to 57%). [They report](https://twitter.com/ICNARC/status/1461810550061608963/photo/1) that 73.1% of ICU admissions in this time period were in unvaccinated people. It’s almost certain that the proportion of unvaccinated people in ICU admissions has actually decreased since then (we’ll find out for certain when ICNARC publish the data for the most recent time period, ~4 months).
Yes, unvaccinated people are disproportionately represented in emergency hospitalisations, deaths, and ICU admissions. But no, they do not make up the majority of such people, not even close (due to very different base rates between vaccinated and unvaccinated people).

Life’s back to normal in Britain apart from the mugs who haven’t been vaccinated because they believed some state sponsored propaganda online and find themselves in an echo chamber. I’ve even seen this phenomenon happening in otherwise critically thinking people for absolutely no reason.
Our hospital waiting lists are chockablock from people LAST YEAR who missed procedures because of the pandemic, please get your jabs so you don’t take up more beds and waste more time, many people are going to die if you don’t get vaccinated to avoid hospitalisation.
Doctors and Nurses are – exhausted – by this bullshit, globally. We need to think about them now, they’re in full burnout mode.

I don’t know about for ICU numbers but for hospitalisations this is not correct. Some rough & rounded numbers, taken from government sources:
~67 million people in the UK
Number of people hospitalised because of covid in October (i.e. held at least one night in hospital)
* Vaccinated: 61250, or 0.09% of total population
* Unvaccinated: 34500, or 0.05% of total population
Okay so there are almost twice as many vaccinated people in hospital as unvaccinated. But let’s check relative numbers
Percentage of vaccinated hospitalised: 0.12%
Percentage of unvaccinated hospitalised: 0.20%
That’s 122 vaccinated per 100,000 vaccinated people, and 203 per 100,000 unvaccinated people.
**Again, very rough numbers (it’s less than 50 mil for fully vaxxed people, I know), but on total numbers there are twice as many vaccinated in hospital, and relative to their respective cohort there are 60 vaxxed for every 100 unvaxxed.**
