LISBON — The West Burlington-Notre Dame high school softball saw its season end in heartbreaking fashion in an 8-7 loss to Lisbon in a Class 2A regional quarterfinal game on Wednesday at Bunting Field.
The Lady Falcons trailed, 8-0, after two innings, but battled back with three runs in the third, one in the fifth and three more in the seventh.
Whitney Snowden, Paige Kramer, Lacie Felkins and Madelyn Thomas each had two hits for the Lady Falcons. Orayana Gonzalez had three RBIs, while Thomas had two and Tannisyn Christofferson had one.
Snowden scored two runs for WB-ND, while Tomas, Adley Mundth, Taylin Prickett, Laney Glendening and Avery Lillie each score one run.
Thomas took the loss. In two innings, she allowed seven hits and five earned runs and struck out one.
Gonzalez pitched the final four innings, allowing just three innings and striking out two.
WB-ND ends the season with a 14-18 record.
