There may have been a small window of opportunity for unification after Denktash passed away but it was unfortunately squandered.
Alot of Turkish Cypriots lost hope after the oxi vote from the Greek Cypriots and felt silly for voting yes in the referendum.
Slowly but surely Turkey has tightened its grip on the North and will continue to do so. More and more settlers are being given residency and voting rights.
this planet is filled with really, really weird and fucken’ stupid ass people.
all this bureaucracy doesn’t mean shit in the wake of someone who has big weapons and unwavering will. all the mountain of EU, NATO, UN legislation and “rules” stacked to the ceiling with scribbles on paper means jack shit.
look at Russia and Ukraine, a perfect example. an invasion that “wasn’t allowed” but happened. sanctions that were supposed to “cripple” Russia, yet their currency is at an all-time high.
if erdogunt wants to invade no one is going to stop him, if he wants to convince Turkey that north Cyprus is now “fully Turkish” it can happen with prolonged propaganda and conviction. also, the nukes, are a free ticket to do whatever you wan’t hEhEHHEhEe
Ah, until now I thought Albania had “complete control” of northern occupied Cyprus.
Considering he it took him a little less than his whole life to this realisation, it is no surprise a solution is unthinkable.

>Cyprus has accused Turkey of seeking full control over the separatist north of the island, and will lodge a formal complaint with the United Nations
Ah
Just wanted to add another article from a Turkish (not sure if he’s Turkish Cypriot) historian:
Medya News: Congratulations on our second ‘undeclared annexation’ after N. Syria: the Erdoğan Republic of Northern Cyprus.

This sounds terrifying
Why would they want?
They already have.
