Several dangerous objects were found and destroyed at sea, some carrying explosives. Officials reveal new details while questions remain about response coordination.
Acting Minister of Defense of Romania Radu Miruță reported that five more cases of marine drone debris being detected have been recorded in the Black Sea. According to him, these objects were destroyed, and some of them contained explosives.
The statement came against the backdrop of an incident at the port of Constanța, where a drone explosion occurred. Radu Miruță also commented on why the Romanian army did not release a separate report on this case.
Who is responsible for port security
The minister emphasized that in peacetime, port security is not the responsibility of the army. According to him, the military can only get involved at the request of other state institutions.
The Romanian Army does not provide security for the port of Constanța in peacetime. It is one of the state institutions that, in such situations, intervenes only when asked for support. There are other institutions that are legally responsible for this in peacetime.

At the same time, he noted that he had asked the Navy and the Land Forces to act as actively as possible, despite the lack of direct responsibility.

Why the military ships did not intervene
The official also explained why the ships stationed at the Constanța military port did not respond to the drone situation. According to him, they were not assigned to that mission.

He emphasized that Romanian military personnel are ready to respond to requests from other agencies and do not refuse assistance in such situations.

Other drone incidents in the Black Sea
Radu Miruță confirmed that the explosion in Constanța was not an isolated case. Before it and possibly after it, other incidents involving marine drones were recorded.
There were drone fragments spotted in the sea that were destroyed. Some of them contained explosives, others did not. This happened before the incident. Possibly one case occurred afterward as well.

According to him, four such cases occurred before the explosion at the port of Constanța, and one more likely happened afterward. All detected objects were neutralized by the relevant services.
The situation in the Black Sea waters remains tense, and Romanian authorities continue to assess risks and coordinate actions among responsible institutions to prevent new incidents.
