Yup, I had to pause my bike ride twice on Saturday to ‘tidy up’ someone’s abandoned scooters.
And if you complain about them online, usually the first comment is *”Why don’t you just move it aside?”*. Yeah, well, why don’t we all just throw stuff on the ground and tell others to clean it up.
Yeah fuck those things where I‘m from we have the same ones and they are just as bad
I am a reasonable man. I compliment co-workers and customers. I pay my taxes. I am aware of my surroundings and make sure public safety is always a priority. I don’t even jaywalk, even if the streets were empty.
But these make me want to cross the line.
Did any of those start ups last for more than a couple of months ? I swear, those scooters change name and colours multiple times a year.
Someplaces in oulu have piles of those just hanging around in the middle of the street
They need to start paying some worker who move around to check if the scooters are left in nice place, otherwise they gonna loose reputation and revenue

This picture is is not real! I only see one scooter!
In the real world, there are at least other 5 scattered is random positions.
Around where I live they popup like mushrooms.
The TIER apps loading screen says “TIER behave like an animal”. I’m just doing what the app tells me 🤷
Isn’t it time to start sabotaging these things yet? Bet they won’t last very long after a group effort of that nature
What if we force those people to stub their toes always when they do that?
or some other mild incovienience
IDK about others, but with TIER you need to take a photo that it’s parked correctly. However, it’s another thing, are they ever going to check those. And you cannot really see from the photo if it’s in the middle of the bicycle lane…
At least it’s not lying on its side across the bike lane. Yet.
If you think these things are bad, wait until more and more people have their own private electric scooters, which don’t have the speed regulation in the city centers like the rental ones do, and in fact can be fairly easily hacked to run at 40kmph.
Time to ban this pestilence
Parking violation rules must be enforced on these as well. It’ll fall in its place.
Liverpool is full of them just dumped here there and everywhere. Here the people that buy them they are illigal to use. Doesn’t make any sence
Somehow we have let our cities become playgrounds for kids and young adults. It should be fixed
There is regularly one in the middle of a walking bridge near my house. Zero reason to park it there other than to troll others. Literally have to ride it half way up and then walk the other half back down. People are leaving them in the worst positions on purpose
My partner told me of the scooters before I went to Finland. I didn’t think they were that prominent. I arrive in Helsinki and I see them literally everywhere hahaha. I’d call them wild packs of scooters when I’d see them out and about on my walks. He mentioned something about people getting drunk and throwing the scooters into the canal, too.
Zip-tie it to the fence to prevent the company from profitting from it
It’s mostly angry ignorant teenagers. I’ve had a few insecure, eye-contactless middle fingers pointed at me after pointing out that they shouldn’t park the scooter in the middle of a bike lane.
Scooters are brilliant modes of transportation, they are fantastic for getting from place to place quickly and they open up parts of the city otherwise accessible either by a long walk or bus. But yes, as much as I love scooters and (grab your pitchforks) am an avid rider, the way some people leave them after a ride is ridiculous. It isn’t hard to park it properly at the side of the path out of the way of traffic.

I’m all in for banning these things for good.
